BMW Australia is aware of the challenges of convincing buyers to consider a hybrid car, but the company believes electrification will eventually be embraced Down Under.

It is pushing the federal government hard to offer incentives to anyone that buys an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid as a way to encourage take-up and further reduce CO2 emissions, but so far, the feds are not biting.

BMW is pressing on regardless, rolling out more of its iPerformance plug-in hybrid models, and this time it is the 5 Series that has been electrified.
