The red-hot M3 is now available in more a practical form. Until now, Australian M3s have only been available as coupes or convertibles, but now a four-door sedan has been added to the range. The M3 sedan is just as ferocious as the coupe, using the same delightful 4.0-litre V8 that pumps out 309kW and 400Nm of torque. This quad-cam engine is able to rev all the way to 8400rpm and delivers it maximum power just 1000rpm below the cut-out. The M3 sedan is a five-seater and also has a larger boot than the coupe. It is 25kg heavier, but that doesn’t seem to slow it down too much. A 0-100km/h time of 4.7 seconds, with the optional dual-clutch automatic, reveal the sedan is only 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe, which makes it a very fast machine. It is also the ‘cheapest’ M3 in the range, coming in at $152,300 compared to $162,901 for the coupe and $176,142 for the convertible.
