M3's specific M sports seats are upholstered in a combination of red/blue-striped M Texture Alcantara (fake suede) and black Nappa leather, matched to inserts in both doors and the leather-bound steering wheel and armrest. Both front seats tilt and slide forward in a single action for rear-seat access, and both are fully electric, including two-way height adjustment, seatback recline and slide functions. The driver's seat also gets three memory positions while the separate, adjustable headrests are height adjustable. Offering excellent lateral support, they are also adjustable for thigh support via a manually extending seat squab extension. The lack of a centre rear lap-sash seatbelt and headrest make the M3 a four-seater in practical terms, however each deeply recessed outboard rear position gets its own armrest.
