BMW launches 330i Iconic Edition with glowing grille

BY CALLUM HUNTER | 17th Feb 2021

BMW AUSTRALIA has secured 200 examples of a new limited-edition 330i said to offer customers a claimed $10,000 worth of extra equipment for almost the same price as the regular version.

Dubbed the Iconic Edition, the new offering has arrived in showrooms priced from $81,900 driveaway compared to the regular 330i’s $77,900 plus on-road costs sticker price.

Besides the obvious exclusivity, the Iconic Edition comes as standard with the choice of two paint finishes – Mineral White or Black Sapphire, 100 examples of each – as well as the ‘Visibility Package’ (electric glass roof, ambient lighting and BMW Laserlight), black 19-inch M light alloy wheels, heated seats, M rear spoiler, ‘Iconic Glow’ kidney grille, carbon-fibre mirror caps and BMW door projectors.

According to BMW, the real point of difference between the regular 330i and the Iconic Edition is the Glow grille which feature integrated LEDs, illuminating the individual slats of the grille.

The rest of the Iconic Edition’s standard kit list reads the same as its donor car with highlights including the M Sport package, M Aerodynamics package, adaptive M suspension, M Sport brakes, sports front seats, black leather upholstery, head-up display and wireless smartphone charging.

All of the mechanicals under the skin are the same too with the Iconic Edition sharing all of the regular 330i’s running gear, including the 190kW/400Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.

As usual for a 3 Series, drive is sent to the rear wheels only with 0-100km/h achieved in a claimed 5.8 seconds.

BMW Australia sold 139 3 Series’ last month, accounting for 14.6 per cent of the $60,000-plus medium car segment behind the dominant Mercedes-Benz C-Class (398/41.8%).
