THE 3 Series is fitted with the third generation of BMW's EWS automatic, transponder-type electronic immobiliser. BMW claims the system is virtually fake-proof and theft-proof, with 100 billion different "rolling" codes. The remote central locking system deadlocks the doors. An alarm is available as an option.
