BMW’S new junior M car, the 1 Series M Coupe, does not even let big brother M3 kick sand in its face.

A sub-five-second 0-100km/h sprint performance attests to the power of this hard-nut two-door sports coupe that is arriving in Australia in limited numbers for a sell-out showroom performance.

Powered by a 250kW/450Nm twin-turbo version of BMW’s trademark inline six, the $99,900 ‘1M’ is $50,000 cheaper than the M3, providing a new entry point for car fans who always wanted to play in the M Division.

The arrival of the 1M coincides with a mild mid-life facelift for the 1 Series Coupe and Convertible, will the whole range getting new nose and tail, along with other tweaks.
