EARLIER this year, BMW quietly slipped the 1 Series Convertible range into Australia, in four-pot 120i and six-cylinder 125i and 135i Sport (twin-turbo) variations. And while the latter two are priced and positioned as you might expect a BMW to be, it is the entry-level model that provides one of the most intriguing four-seater convertible options on the market. From around $53,000, does it really deliver ‘sheer driving pleasure’ as promised by the BMW roundel on its bonnet? In fact, we think it delivers rather more.
