AUDI is determined to keep the hard-charging BMW X3, Range Rover Evoque and Volvo XC60 from stealing its medium prestige SUV/crossover sales crown, so a mild facelift has arrived, with two all-new engines, eight-speed auto availability, big efficiency improvements and the latest driver-assistance and multimedia technology.

There is also a higher level of standard specification with little or no price rise, to help keep the Ingolstadt contender number one in its class.

Can they keep the four-year old German competitive?
