Audi prices updated Q2 from $42,900 + ORCs

AUDI Australia has revealed the pricing of its updated Q2 compact SUV range which now starts from $42,900 plus on-road costs for the 35 TFSI, one of three variants comprising the 2021 line-up.

All models score new (resculpted) bumpers front and rear, a more aggressive front fascia with bigger front intakes and an integrated rear diffuser.

Powered by a new turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, the Q2 35 TFSI still features the same 110kW/250Nm outputs as the outgoing 1.4-litre version however fuel economy has been improved to a claimed 5.2 litres per 100km thanks to new cylinder deactivation technology.

While not a performance model, Audi says the cheapest Q2 will go from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds with drive from the engine sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission.

Standard equipment highlights on the range-opener meanwhile include LED headlights, contrasting bumpers and C-pillar, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-appointed seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, digital driver information display, convenience key, an 8.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Audi smartphone interface, Audi phone box, wireless charging, heated wing mirrors and MMI navigation plus.

Priced $7000 above the 35 TFSI is the more potent and completely unchanged – save for the styling – 40 TFSI quattro S line ($49,900) which still utilises a force-fed 2.0-litre engine good for 140kW/320Nm.

As the quattro part of its name suggests, drive in the 40 TFSI is sent to all four wheels with gear-shifting duties being taken care of by the same DCT as its lesser sibling.

With all-paw traction and an extra 30kW/70Nm on hand, the mid-range offering slashes the 0-100km/h time down to 6.5 seconds while fuel economy predictably increases to 7.0L/100km.

Building on the 35 TFSI’s standard kit, the 40 TFSI adds new Audi Sport 18-inch alloy wheels, Audi drive select, electric tailgate, sport front seats, auto-dimming interior mirror and aluminium interior accents.

As previously covered by GoAuto, the updated Q2 range will be crowned by the rabid SQ2 which is headed to the Australian market for the first time.

Priced from $64,400, the SQ2 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 221kW/400Nm, enough to catapult it from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds thanks to the standard inclusion of all-wheel drive.

Rattling off the gears is the same DCT as the rest of the range with the flagship able to be singled out by its unique 19-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, Matrix LED headlights with dynamic indicators, quad tailpipes and a more aggressive bodykit.

The sporty theme is continued inside the cabin too with diamond-stitched Nappa leather sports seats adorned with embossed S logos, S sport leather steering wheel, S-specific display for the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit and ‘light graphics inlays’.

Other standard features above the 40 TFSI include a 705W Bang and Olufsen premium sound system, automatic high-beam, S sports suspension (20mm lower), five drive modes, black headliner, automatic climate control and a WiFi hotspot.

With the new model due to touch down locally in May, Audi has sold 375 Q2s so far this year ending March, accounting for 6.4 per cent of the $40,000-plus compact SUV segment.
