THE Audi Q2 is much better looking in the metal than in photos, with a friendly-looking fascia that reminded us of a quokka juxtaposed by a sturdy, bulldog-like stance. Cute, short-snouted proportions are offset by a combination of curves and angles that provide a purposeful and sporty look from certain angles.

This all represents a significant departure from Audi’s usually conservative and evolutionary design language, which is risky but appears to have paid off.

We spent a week with the Q2 to find out if the rest of the car is as fresh and endearing as its appearance.
