Audi offers blacked-out special edition models

AUDI has given popular A and Q models the batman (or mafia) treatment, with its Dynamic Black Range, officially open for order if you agree with Jay Leno’s ‘any colour is good, as long as it’s black’ thinking.

At a recent Q5 PHEV launch, Audi Australia confirmed that most four-ringed owners do enjoy blacked-out features, with more than 50 per cent of Q5 buyers this year opting for the Black Styling Package.

The Dynamic Black Range consists of Audi A and Q models with more dominant styling inside and out, featuring metallic paint, blacked-out trim and wheel packages not available elsewhere within the regular range.

A4 and A5 Dynamic Black models, across both sedan and Avant body types, will include 19-inch (A4) or 20-inch (A5) Audi Sport alloys with partly polished black anthracite wheels, metallic paint, red brake callipers, black Audi rings, and black roof rails for the Avant.

The A5 Sportback Dynamic Black also gets the S line interior package consisting of Nappa leather S Sport front seats, with massage function, rounding out the enhanced equipment with a performance-focused upgrade.

On the SUV front, Q models will be offered with Dynamic Black treatment for Q2 through to Q8, with similar visual and equipment upgrades made.

The Q2 will receive the option of two anthracite black 19-inch wheel styles, metallic paint with colour matched front and rear bumpers, and the Audi rings, wing mirror caps and c-pillars are blacked out.

Stepping up to the Q3, it receives polished grey 19-inch wheels, metallic or pearlescent paint with colour matched front and rear bumpers, and the same blacked-out exterior, as well as heated and electrically adjustable front seats and colour ambient lighting inside.

Popular model within the Q range, the Q5 scores the same extended black exterior package, matte black 20-inch wheels, and inside ambient colour lighting. Higher grade variants get added black and grey contrast stitching.

At the top of the pack, the Q7 and Q8 Dynamic Black models both receive massive black or silver 22-inch wheels.

The Q7 gets black roof rails, wing mirrors and door sill trim, as well as metallic paint and privacy glass. Inside, the interior ambient lighting package is added.

For the Q8, it is considerably blacked-out with large black front Singleframe, headlight surrounds, rear diffuser, roof rails, and even air intakes, while various other exterior elements are also, you guessed it, finished in black.

Audi also de-badges all Dynamic Black vehicles, removing badges that denote engine type, for a little added mystery.

“These styling and equipment highlights further build on the appeal of some of the brand's most popular models," said Audi Australia director, Jeff Mannering.

“These special models bring together a combination of striking design features that give the Dynamic Black range a tremendous road presence that will strike a chord with customers wanting a sportier look for their Audi.”

While the Dynamic Black models are a special edition offering, the number of vehicles that will be built has not been specified.
