Audi recalls A3, TT

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 26th Oct 2009

AUDI Australia has recalled 2009 versions of its (8P-series) A3 hatchback and (8J-series) TT coupe and roadster due to a faulty automatic transmission control unit.

The German car-maker will write to owners of the 420 affected vehicles, in which the dual-clutch transmissions could malfunction if left unrectified.

“There is a possibility that the control unit in the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) can cause a false temperature signal indicating that the clutch is overloaded,” says Audi’s recall notice.

“If this should happen, the control unit will open the clutch in order to protect the gearbox. As a consequence, the clutch protection function is activated, resulting in flashing gear-change indicator, uneven transmission of power, reduced engine torque and release of clutch.”
