Audi adds petrol to Q7, gruntier TT & A4 Allroad

AUDI has bolstered not one, not two but three of its current model lines with a new go-faster variant for the Q7 range and some significant power bumps for the TT and A4 Allroad.

Dubbed the Q7 55 TFSI, the new large SUV variant is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine developing 250kW/500Nm and slots directly below the flagship SQ7 in terms of performance, stopping the clock from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Costing $121,300 plus on-road costs, the 55 TFSI is also the second-most expensive Q7 available in Australia, available exclusively in S-Line trim and priced $1700 upstream of the oil-burning 50 TDI S-Line ($119,900).

As usual for an Audi, drive is sent to all four wheels by the brand’s iconic quattro all-wheel-drive system while gear-shifting duties are taken care of by an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In the TT range, engineers have managed to extract an extra 11kW from the base model 45 TFSI’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, elevating peak power from 169kW to 180kW – torque remains the same at 370Nm.

To help make the most of its new grunt the 45 TFSI also scores a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, trimming its 0-100km/h time from 5.3 seconds to 5.2.

The extra power and performance does come at an extra cost however with the 45 TFSI now costing $80,000 plus on-roads – $1611 more than before.

10kW has also been added to the A4 Allroad 40 TDI, raising its peak outputs from 140kW/400Nm to 150kW/400Nm, helping to shed 0.5s from its 0-100km/h time, no stopping the clock in 7.3 seconds.

Fitted with a twin-dosing selective catalytic reduction with double AdBlue injection, the new Allroad 40 TDI sips 4.9 litres of diesel per 100km on the combined cycle also thanks in part to a 12V mild hybrid system.
