ALLROAD has an excellent array of active and passive safety features. Based on the A6 Avant (wagon), it has a passenger car construction, which means it should perform better in a severe crash than some traditional off-roaders that continue to use a separate body and chassis for superior off-road strength. As per the Allroad 2.7T (pictured), inside the Allroad TDI cabin are no less than eight airbags, including side airbags and a head-level curtain system for the driver, front passenger and outboard rear seat passengers. Front positions also have seatbelts with belt-force limiters, while all seats have a three-point seatbelt with pretensioner and an adjustable head restraint. Traction and stability control and ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution are also standard.
