AUDI’S booming RS high-performance line-up is growing like topsy in Australia, with the new five-door RS7 Sportback becoming the seventh such weapon in Ingolstadt’s local armoury.

The new flagship for the A7 ‘coupe’ range is powered by the same 412kW 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the RS6 Avant, with similar performance credentials.

The quattro-equipped RS7 becomes the biggest RS model, tipping the scales at about two tonnes and reaching five metres long.

But is it a stretch to expect such big beast to perform up to the high standards of Audi’s other RS models?
