A HIGH number of active safety features are provided on the S6, including strong brakes, direct steering and excellent roadholding through its large wheel and tyre combination, electronic traction devices and permanent four-wheel drive. Passive features are also in abundance. All occupants are provided with a head restraint and a pretensioning three-point seatbelt. Rear outboard occupants are further protected by a head curtain airbag and a side airbag, while up front the driver and front passenger are provided with head, front and side airbags and force-limiting, height-adjustable seatbelts. A first-aid kit slots neatly into the rear armrest and a warning triangle - to be used to warn oncoming traffic in the event of a breakdown - is stowed underneath the bootlid.
