IF YOU had to guess off the top of your head what the most powerful machine in Audi’s worldwide fleet was, it would be pretty logical to gravitate towards Ingolstadt’s own supercar, the R8 V10 Plus.

Sadly, you’d be wrong.

The honour goes to something – actually, two things – that are conceptually about as far as you can get from the two-door head-turner.

The RS6 Avant wagon and the RS7 Sportback four-door coupe hold the accolade of being the most potent beasts in the Audi stable, packing the same kind of firepower under their respective bonnets that you’d see in a Bentley Continental GT.

Now the updated versions have landed locally, where their high price hasn’t stopped a steady stream of sales for Audi Australia since their arrival.

There’s really only one place to safely explore the potential of a 412kW, 700Nm wolf in sheep’s clothing, and luckily we’ve been invited along by Audi to do just that.
