Audi lifts the lid on another Cabrio

AUDI Australia has added to its drop-top range with the launch of the 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo version of the A4 Cabriolet.

The 1.8T is priced at $84,900, slotting in well below the $105,370 3.0-litre V6 A4 Cabrio launched late in 2002.

The 1.8T engine produces 120kW at 5700rpm and 225Nm between 1950 and 4700rpm and is mated only to Audi's continuously variable multitronic transmission.

Other technical specifications include independent four-link front suspension and trapezoidal link rear suspension, which is lowerd by 20mm compared to the A4 sedan on which it is based.

Like the V6, the 1.8T's cloth roof is electro-hydraulically operated with a heated glass rear window, and can open or close in 24 seconds.

Standard specification includes leather sports seats, electric lumbar support, 16-inch alloy wheels, ski-bag, CD player and remote central locking.

The V6, aprt from an extra 40kW, adds 17-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, memory function for the exterior mirrors, Xenon gas discharge headlights with cleaning system, burr walnut inlay and electronic front seats with memory function.
