AUDI’S A4 Allroad wagon is a strange beast. Based on the A4 Avant, the high-riding crossover sits neatly between a regular wagon and traditional SUV.

And much like Dannii Minogue, it has a more famous older sibling – in the Audi’s case the A6 Allroad – that could keep it an unknown quantity for some.

Launching in one specification only, Audi has limited the numbers to just 150 units in its first year to test the waters.

The premium underpinnings make for a good ride and the Allroads’s butch stance gives it some real presence on the road, but with cheaper options available including the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack and even the regular A4 Avant, is it worth spending the extra money?
