THE A4 cockpit has undergone a wholesale redesign that honed in on the instrument panel, air vents and centre console. The 2.0 uses aluminium inlay for the dashboard, centre console and doors, though brown walnut as seen on the 3.0 model can be optioned. The instruments are housed beneath a domed cover and use simple graphics and (chrome-ringed) gauges. There's no full-blown trip computer as such, the centre display pad showing outside temperature, distance to empty, gear selected (on multitronic versions) and warnings as necessary. A button at the base of the instrument cluster is provided for clock and date adjustment (housed within the tachometer arc) and another can check or alter settings (located inside the speedo arc) such as the trip meter, next service and coolant level.
