A 1.984-litre, 20-valve four-cylinder engine that develops 96kW at 5700rpm and 195Nm at 3300rpm powers the 2.0 A4. Key features include a two-stage variable length intake manifold for increased power and torque and a so-called "mapped cooling system" for reduced engine emissions and fuel consumption. Claimed acceleration from rest to 100km/h is 9.9 seconds for the five-speed manual, 10.2 seconds for the CVT. Official fuel consumption figures indicate the manual version will consume 11.4 litres per 100km on the city cycle and 5.9L/100km on the highway the CVT 2.0 returns 10.9 and 6.2L/100km respectively. Premium unleaded fuel (95 RON) is required.
