Audi sharpens its S line-up

AUDI Australia has raided the options cabinet to give its sporty S3, S4 and S5 a value lift to juice up sales.

The biggest winner is the smallest of the bunch, the S3, which gets add-on bits worth a claimed $9000 without any price rise on the sedan, Sportback and cabriolet variants.

Extras that now come as standard include 19-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, metallic paint, red brake callipers, sports seats cloaked in Nappa leather, auto-folding mirrors with kerb view, a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, wireless smartphone charging and magnetic suspension.

The one-size-larger S4 sedan and Avant wagon get metallic paint, Nappa leather sports seats with pneumatic lumbar support and massage functionality, extended upholstery, a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system and two rear-seat USB charging points.

The S5 range – including the coupe, cabriolet and Sportback – gains 20-inch Audi Sport wheels, metallic paint, a head-up display and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

The changes to the S models come on top on the recently announced S Line Plus pack for mainstream A3 variants. The package adds $11,000 of extra value in return for price premiums of between $2500 and $2600 over the standard equivalent.

Audi sales have slipped 24.3 per cent this year, partly because it has been waiting for stocks of the newly minted Q3 small SUV launched this month.

However, A3, A4, and A5 lines have all suffered a dip, with the latter worst hit, down 36.2 per cent.
