Brera goes auto

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 4th May 2007

ALFA Romeo is now offering the option of an automatic transmission on its V6-powered AWD Brera sportscar in Australia.

Priced from $90,990 – $3000 above the six-speed manual version – the 191kW 3.2-litre JTS V6 combines with the Italian marque’s six-speed Q-Tronic gearbox, which has a sequential-manual shift function and "sport" and "winter" driving modes.

It is 0.2 seconds slower than the manual from 0-100km/h (7.0 seconds) and lesseconomical, but offers the same 240km/h top speed.

The auto consumes a whopping 18.4L/100km on the urban cycle (manual: 16.9L/100km) and 8.6L/100km on the extra-urban cycle (manual: 8.4L/100km), for a combined figure of 12.2L/100km (manual: 11.5L/100km).

The Q-Tronic version brings the number of Alfa's Brera variants to three, including the 136kW 2.2-litre JTS manual and the 191kW 3.2-litre V6 JTS manual.

2007 Alfa Romeo Brera pricing:

Brera 2.2 coupe - $62,990
Brera 3.2 coupe - $87,990
Brera 3.2 coupe (a) - $90,990
