Alfa Romeo debuts 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo

BY CALLUM HUNTER | 15th Dec 2020

ALFA Romeo has revealed a new limited-edition 4C Spider honouring the legendary and beautiful 33 Stradale supercar of 1967, fittingly named the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo.

Limited to just 33 units – reflective of its name – the 4C Spider Stradale Tributo takes the usual 4C Spider recipe and garnishes it with a series of heritage design cues taken straight from the classic supercar.

All 33 examples will be finished in an exclusive ‘Rosso Villa d’Este’ tri-coat exterior colour scheme with the rich red and black body rolling on a staggered set of unique grey-gold alloy wheels measuring 18-inches at the front and 19-inches at the rear.

The most eagle-eyed Alfa fans may also spot the bi-xenon headlights and the bi-modal Akrapovic exhaust system poking out from the rear bumper, two pieces of previously optional equipment that comes standard on the new limited edition.

Decked-out standard equipment largely sets the trend for the rest of the car with other bundled features including race-tuned suspension, a battery charger, car cover, suede and leather upholstery, rear wing and Italian flag mirror caps.

Inside the cabin are carbon sports seats and dedicated plaques on the dash, side sills and centre console, the latter of which also feature the build number.

Under the mid-mounted bonnet still resides the familiar turbocharged 1750cc four-cylinder petrol engine developing 177kW of power and 350Nm of torque, all of which is channelled to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Zero to 97km/h (0-60mph) is dealt with in 4.1 seconds while the top speed is pegged at 257km/h – exactly the same as the original 33 Stradale which for reference was powered by a 2.0-litre V8 petrol engine good for 169kW/206Nm.

According to the global head of Alfa Romeo Tim Kuniskis, the 4C has been the halo vehicle of the brand since it emerged in 2014 with the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo being the pinnacle of the model line.

“The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an instant Alfa Romeo classic that passes the torch to the next generation of iconic Alfa Romeo vehicles, including the upcoming Tonale PHEV crossover that will start production next year,” he said.

Despite being targeted primarily at the North American market, FCA Australia has confirmed that a small allocation of vehicles will make it to Australian shores sometime next year.

“The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is such an iconic car,” FCA Australia director of corporate communications Tracie Stoltenburg told GoAuto.

“We are excited to confirm a limited number of 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributos will arrive in Australia next year and we look forward to sharing more details with you in the coming months.”

While the local pricing and specifications are yet to be detailed, the 4C flagship carries a starting price of $US79,995 ($A106,033) plus on-road costs in North America.

Alfa Romeo has sold 670 new vehicles in Australia so far this year ending November, seven of which were 4Cs.
