Sydney show: Alfa launches 147 Ti

BY BRUCE NEWTON | 24th Oct 2003

ALFA Romeo used the Sydney motor show to launch a new version of the three-door 147 hatch called the Ti - short for "Turismo internazionale".

Powered by the 110kW 2.0-litre Twin Spark engine with a choice of either a five-speed manual gearbox or the Selespeed sequential manual, the Ti includes 17-inch alloy wheels, the GTA's rear wing, sports seats and some leather trimming.

The manual Ti is priced at $39,990, while the Selespeed version is pitched at $42,990.

Alfa also showed its recently facelifted Spider, 156 and GTV models, while the updated 166 will be on sale in January.

Twelve months from now Alfa is hoping to have the 156 station wagon-based all-wheel drive on its stand, although the car has yet to break cover in Europe.
