Naran Automotive unveils Naran ‘hyper-coupe’

A NEW player has emerged within the exclusive world of super-GT cars with Naran Automotive promising its new ‘Naran’ coupe will go from 0-100km/h in less than three seconds and reach more than 370km/h.

Officially dubbed by its creators as a four-seat ‘hyper-coupe’, the Naran features none of the emissions-saving electrification measures many other brands are embracing, instead relying on good old fashioned V8 grunt.

The V8 in question is a bespoke 5.0-litre unit, boosted by the addition of two turbochargers which results in 781kW of power and 1036Nm of torque.

It should come as no surprise that all that power is put to the road by all four wheels, no doubt playing a large role in the Naran’s claimed 2.3-second dash from 0-100km/h.

0-160km/h is reportedly dealt with in 4.6 seconds while the top speed is “expected” to be over 370km/h.

Whether or not these claims stack up remains to be seen as development of the V8 powerplant is still underway in Germany by Naran’s partners Racing Dynamics, EY3 Engineering and EV dynamics specialist Daniel Mense.

No details surrounding the transmission have been revealed as yet but we would expect it to be some form of dual-clutch automatic.

Visually, the Naran looks like something of a mix between a Ferrari SF90 and a Lexus RC F Track Edition.

At the front we find an angular, squinting front fascia similar to that of the of Ferrari which merges its way backwards into the classic front-engine coupe silhouette while the boot lid is adorned with a huge fixed rear wing.

That wing – along with the integrated front splitter – is not there for show, with Naran Automotive claiming the Naran to generate 1377kg of downforce, however it does not specify at what speed.

The body is made from carbon-composite and rolls on 22-inch hybrid-carbon wheels.

Under the skin is a double-wishbone suspension set-up featuring adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, camber and toe-in settings so drivers can tailor the vehicle to suit their preferences or driving demands.

Building on this notion is the ability to direct all of the engine’s power and torque to the rear wheels, resulting in what Naran Automotive describes as a “challenging, yet rewarding, analogue driving experience”.

Damping duties are taken care of by four-way adjustable Ohlins units while carbon ceramic brakes will come as standard.

Naran Automotive CEO and founder Ameerh Naran said the brand’s vision was to create “the most beautiful and thrilling cars in existence”.

“With the Naran, we are creating a unique ownership experience and a new perspective on shared driving experiences – a GT3-inspired, driver-focused, front-mid engined 2+2 hyper-coupe, that delivers unrivalled material innovation and a commitment to reviving the analogue driving experience,” he said.

“The Naran is the true embodiment of art on wheels, designed and developed by some of the greatest minds in the industry.”

Standard equipment and safety gear is yet to be detailed however prospective buyers will not have to wait long given the car is due to debut early next year.

Just 49 Narans will be produced worldwide with each one able to be customised and tailored to suit buyer preferences, however it is not yet known if any examples will be coming to Australia.
