VOLVO breathed new life into the premium mid-size segment back in 2010 with its second-generation S60 and V60 line-up, offering a worthy alternative to the standard German fare.

The Swedish car-maker has now introduced a refreshed model for 2014 that brings with it a redesigned front-end, a boost in safety equipment options and a more streamlined model line-up.

Starting from $49,990, the updated S60/V60 hovers in BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class territory, but has Volvo done enough to bother the big guns on the sales charts?
