Geneva show: Subaru’s Viziv goes Tourer

BY RON HAMMERTON | 14th Feb 2018

IF THE Subaru Viziv Performance Concept shown at last year’s Tokyo motor is supposed to be the next WRX, and the Viziv Performance STI Concept shown at last month’s Tokyo Auto Salon is thought to be the next WRX STI, what are the chances the Viziv Tourer Concept to be shown at next month’s Geneva motor show foreshadows the new-generation Levorg?Subaru has not given us much to go on, today releasing only a dimly lit teaser image of the back of the latest concept that appears to show a sloping wagon tailgate above an LED tail-light.

The related WRX, WRX STI and Levorg wagon are all up for replacement in the next year or two, with all three of them set to sit on Subaru’s new Global Platform that debuted under the Impreza small car in 2016 and XV small SUV last year.

Body wise, the Levorg is essentially a wagon version of the WRX in the current generation, and this could be expected to continue into the next model.

The Viziv Tourer Concept to be unveiled at Geneva on March 6 is the sixth Subaru concept to carry the Viziv name, which stands for Vision for Innovation.

The Viziv chain started with a hybrid small car concept in 2013 and continued with the Viziv-2 small SUV in 2014, the Viziv-7 large SUV in 2016, Viziv Performance last year and the Viziv Performance STI at last month’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
