FORGET Nissan’s unloved Tiida, the Pulsar is back in Australia, starting with the sedan body style and retro $19,990 starting price.

While advertising for the Pulsar of the early nineties and noughties boasted of free air-conditioning, the new car goes much further with its standard equipment list.

The result is a car wearing a trusted Japanese badge but offering the kind of value for money associated with South Korean competitors.

An unfathomably spacious interior, smooth engine, decent transmission and comfortable ride will appeal to the masses Nissan is chasing but does the Pulsar have what it takes to compete with the big sellers?
