SMALL cars are still big business in Australia despite the massive shift to SUVs and each new generation model moves the game forward.

There are so many quality products in the segment that any car-maker coming to market with a half-baked offering will likely get left behind.

Holden knows this and its latest Astra five-door hatchback is tasked with stealing sales from heavyweights including the much-loved Mazda3 and Volkswagen’s Golf.

It is a big ask, but after a day driving it, we reckon Holden has a hit on its hands.
