A FIVE-SPEED manual gearbox is the only transmission offered, but it's a modified apparatus with extremely close ratios to cope with the higher engine output - and keep the driver busy! The ratio spread is, from first to fifth, 3.230:1, 2.105:1, 1.458:1, 1.034:1 and 0.787:1. Final drive ratio is 4.400:1.

Other modifications to manage the new engine centred on the bearing design and clutch.
