A sleeker nose, revised tail-lights and bumpers, new trim inside and out, and a higher specification level (including a passenger’s side airbag and central locking on all models) signalled the Mk6 Series II.

The 118kW VTi-R hot-hatch gave way to the 118kW VTi-R Coupe, the VTi sedan became a CVT auto-only model and new colours were introduced.
