Civic-minded: Honda's hybrid hits the Euro NCAP crash barrier.

ENCAP laments the four-star crash test safety rating by Civic Hybrid and Skoda Fabia

3 Aug 2007

THE European NCAP crash-test program has dealt a four-star adult occupant rating – which is one star below the maximum now expected – to the Honda Civic Hybrid sedan and Skoda Fabia hatch.

In a statement released last week, Euro NCAP made it clear under the headline “hybrids: environmentally concerned and safe?” that the Civic’s result was a rung below the five-star overall score achieved by the Toyota Prius in 2004.

The Honda hybrid scored four stars for child occupant protection and three stars for pedestrian protection, while the Fabia scored three and two stars respectively in each category.
