The Steed, known as the Wingle thankfully elsewhere, is forging the new path for Great Wall in Australia, with a new look, sliced price and boosted features list aiming to bring Australian buyers – and dealers – back into the family. Only being offered for now in manual dual-cab guise, with an automatic at least 18 months away, the petrol and diesel workhorses are being aimed at tradies and farmers, yet are sporting leather trim and carpets. The brand said more versions are coming but hesitates to nominate a specific date for base-model, rubber-floored models with single-cab and tray backs that might seem more suitable for its target audience.
