E991R Starlet Series II

In March ’98 Toyota introduced a range of refinements to a rationalised Starlet range.

The Style and Group X models vanished while the remaining three and five-door Life models gained a beefed-up body, driver’s side airbag, seatbelt pretensioners, revised suspension tuning for a softer ride, new cabin fabrics and revised wheel trims.

The optional Power Pack included power steering, electric mirrors, central locking and a tachometer, while a passenger airbag and anti-lock brakes made up the optional Safety Pack.

After the conservative styling of the Starlet, its Echo replacement seemed like it was generations ahead.
