Celica ST162 (Mk4 Series II)

A small front and rear facelift, revised wheel and cabin trims and small gains in refinement and noise reduction levels helped keep the front-drive Celica fresh against its formidable new Honda Prelude with four-wheel steering foe.

An 86kW Celica ST liftback joined the ST coupe while the 103kW SX marched upmarket, gaining a sunroof from early ’89.

At the same time, a limited edition version of the latter – called White Lightning – was introduced.

A total of 10,974 ST162 series cars arrived here from 1985 to 1989.
