Opel Insignia

Insignia

1 Sep 2012

GM’s German-arm Opel launched in Australia in September 2012 with an initial line-up of three vehicles. The Insignia mid-size sedan and wagon range was the flagship of the line-up and was available in base or Select specifications and the choice of either a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel.

A six-speed automatic transmission was standard and the Insignia was pitched against European rivals like the Volkswagen Passat as well as cars like the Honda Accord Euro.

The petrol Insignia had a 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.8 seconds while the diesel was a little slower with 9.6 seconds.

A go-fast 239kW OPC edition with all-wheel drive and a V6 engine was released in February 2013 at the same time as the Astra and Corsa OPC hot hatches.
