Nissan Maxima

A32 Maxima

1 Feb 1995

A bigger, roomier body, brawnier V6 engine and larger variety of specification levels summed up the Mk2 Maxima.

The Executive and Ti nomenclature vanished.

Now punching out 142kW, the brilliant new quad-cam 3.0-litre engine could also be had with a five-speed manual as well as a four-speed auto in the base 30J and mid-range 30G.

All A32 models offered a driver’s side airbag and anti-lock brakes, while the luxury 30GV included an active damper control in the suspension, a sunroof and leather trim.

During 1996 price reductions and keen promotions saw the Maxima’s profile and sales rise.

In October of that year Nissan dropped the base 30J for the cheaper, auto-only 30S Touring and discontinued the manual option on the 30G.
