Mercedes-Benz CLS-class

W218 CLS

1 Jan 2015

In addition to a mid-life facelift, Mercedes half-sedan, half-coupe CLS gained a new twin-turbocharged V6 variant in the form of the CLS400, which sat above the entry level CLS250 and below the also unchanged CLS500.

That sub-AMG flagship 4.7-litre turbocharged V8 drivetrain was also introduced to the Shooting Brake sporty wagon range as part of the range refresh. Although the new CLS400 added another option, the discontinuation of the mighty 63 AMG S version of the Shooting Brake maintained the six-variant line-up.

Prices increased in most cases across the board but each hike was accompanied by equipment enhancements, such as a nine-speed automatic transmission for all except the AMG coupe, which made do with seven ratios.
