Mercedes-Benz Vito

W447 Vito

1 Jul 2015

Mercedes-Benz released the third generation of its workhorse Vito van in mid-2015, giving the range a new entry level variant, as well as new safety gear.

The new Vito was paired with four different engines, all turbo-diesel four cylinders in different states of tune.

The base level 111CDI used 1.6-litre donk that put out 84kW/270Nm, and the rest used a common-rail 2.2-litre twin-turbo BlueTec engine.

Of these, the 114 mustered 100kW/330Nm, the 116 managed 120kW/380Nm, and the range-topping 119 offered a beefy 140kW/440Nm.

The Vito was sold with a choice of short, mid or long wheelbases, front or rear wheel drive, and a choice of transmission for the 111CDI and 114BlueTec.

Standard safety features included the latest incarnation of electronic stability program (version 9i) as standard, which added enhanced understeer control, automatic brake disc drying and emergency situation brake preparation to the existing stability, traction and rollover control functionality. If it was equipped to tow then Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) was also supplied.

The Vito panel van and crew cab models also featured airbags and a seatbelt reminder, with additional safety features offered as options.
