GW Series II Estate

A bolder nose featuring a new bonnet, headlights, bumpers and grille, new tail-lights and rear garnish, revised interior trim and redesigned wheels arrived, to funk up the 626’s rather dumpy design.

The single-model Estate also had improvements to both the auto and manual transmissions, and a concerted effort to quell noise conduits.

Several steering and suspension modifications also improved the 626’s handling and ride.

The GW was replaced by a wagon variant of the critically acclaimed Mazda 6 in August ’02.
