Mazda CX-5

KF CX-5

1 Mar 2017

Mazda launched the second-generation CX-5 in March 2017, mirroring the line-up of the first-gen car, with the exception of the new mid-sped Touring grade to appeal to returning customers.

The design was an evolution of the original, but it introduced styling changes seen on the bigger CX-9. The interior changes ensured it was up there with the segment’s best.

Under the skin, Mazda retained the three-engine line-up of the 2.0-litre four-pot petrol, the 2.5-litre four-pot petrol and the 2.2-litre four-pot turbo-diesel with few changes.

More safety tech was added in the flagship Akera, and there was more standard gear across the range.

The car was about 40kg heavier than the model it replaced, and fuel economy was impacted slightly.
