Although nearly identical to its predecessor, the Mk5 series II Accord featured a modified grille and bumpers, larger rear window, bigger tail-lights and a redesigned boot profile – the latter for increased luggage capacity.
The EXi gained cruise control, the VTi and wagon anti-lock brakes, and the VTi-S dual front airbags.
Heat-absorbing glass and new fabrics completed the mid-life facelift.
Continuing poor sales killed the Accord wagon in late ’96, ahead of April’s value-added 20th Anniversary editions.
