Ford Falcon

XT Falcon GT

1 May 1968

Underneath the new grille and redesigned tail-lights lurked a larger and gutsier V8 – a 4.9-litre (302ci) unit generating 171kW of power and 418Nm of torque.

On the safety front, the brakes were improved, larger tyres fitted, the now horizontal indicators were also reverse lights in the tail-lights and an external mirror was incorporated.

Now a permanent part of the Falcon range, the XT’s colour palette also grew to include Candy Apple Red amongst other hues.

For the first time a three-speed T-bar automatic was available as well as a four-speed manual floor shift.
