ED Falcon GLi and Futura

A stopgap model to reign in popular new VR Commodore, the ED’s ovoid grille is the only visual giveaway.

The Futura name (which died with the XB in ’76) is exhumed as the Falcon’s private-seller special to compete with the popular Commodore Acclaim.

It includes anti-lock brakes and cruise-control as standard. Later-build EDs incorporate stronger body modifications developed for the following EF model.

Higher gearing improved the 148kW/348Nm 4.0L’s fuel economy.

New standard features: body coloured door handles Futura: ABS, cruise control Engine options: 165kW/388Nm 5.0L EFI V8.
