Lanos Series II

Through increasingly lean times, the Lanos lived on with only slight suspension revisions (to slightly improve the handling, ride and refinement properties) and minor exterior and interior trim titivations in late ’99, and again in early 2002. The latter makeover also saw a new grille, tail-lights and bumpers.
The SX gave way to the three-door-only Sport from late ’99. Other limited edition Lanos’ included the X of early 2000 and the SE Limited Edition from February 2002. Both included the 63kW 1.5 engine, alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and a CD player.
Only a heavily re-engineered version of the 1.5-litre E-TEC engine survives in the Lanos’ crisply styled Kalos replacement in early 2003, which couldn’t come soon enough for the struggling new GM Daewoo.
