Citroen C5

C5 Mk2

1 Sep 2008

CITROEN'S second-generation C5 mid-sized sedan and wagon range went on sale in Australia on September 6, offering vastly improved driving dynamics, refinement and style.

Available as a conventional four-door sedan (rather than five-door hatchback fors like the original C5 and the Xantia before it) and five-door wagon (dubbed the Tourer), the new C5 comes powered by two diesel engines.

The entry-level engine is the 1997cc four-cylinder turbo-diesel 2.0 HDi, which delivers 100kW and 340Nm of torque, while the flagship 2.7-litre twin-turbo diesel V6 offers 150kW and 440Nm. Both come standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Two equipment grades are also on offer, with pricing opening at $49,990 for the C5 2.0 HDi Comfort sedan, rising to $52,740 for the Tourer, while Exclusive versions of the sedan and wagon cost $54,990 and $57,740 respectively. The C5 2.7 V6 HDi Exclusive sedan and Tourer top the range at more than $60.000.
