Aston Martin Vanquish

Vanquish

1 Nov 2012

Aston Martin's flagship V12 Vanquish arrived in Australia in late 2012, replacing the DBS as the most desirable (and expensive) car in the British marque's stable.

Under the bonnet was a hand-built German 6.0-litre V12 good for 421kW and 620Nm, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Vanquish had a top speed of 293km/h and a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds, making it one-tenth faster than its predecessor and the most powerful road Aston ever (excluding the super-limited, $2.7 million One-77).

Claimed to represent the “zenith” of current Aston design and engineering, the new Vanquish featured signature roofline, grille and haunches, but added muscular body accoutrements, carbon fibre highlights and rear LED lights pinched from the sold-out One-77.

Befitting its image as a luxury product rather than a hardcore racer, the cabin featured lashings of leather and gloss-black trim, plus a 368 litre boot.
