Porsche launched its Panamera in February, 2017, but just two variants were available in showrooms initially – the V8-powered Turbo and the V6-powered 4S.

A base Panamera, all-wheel-drive Panamera 4, plug-in E-Hybrid and 4S Diesel all arrived later in the year.

The 4S was powered by an all-new 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine making 324kW at 5650rpm and 550Nm from 1750-5500rpm, ensuring a 0-100km/h-sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 289km/h.

Fuel use dropped by 1.0 litre compared with the previous 4S to 8.1-8.2L/100km, while CO2 emissions were 184-186g/km.

The Turbo used an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 pumping out 404kW at 5750-6000rpm and 770Nm at 1960-4500rpm, making for a 0-100km/h dash in 3.8s and a top speed of 306km/h.

All powertrains used a new eight-speed PDK transmission and the Panamera featured a completely new suspension and steering setup.

The exterior did away with the controversial humpback tail and the cabin was filled with new high-tech gadgets and high-quality materials.
