Vuhl 05 goes on sale MEXICO City-based supercar maker Vuhl has released more details and images of the enigmatic 05 ahead of its global debut at Goodwood this month.

Powered by a two-litre, 212kW version of Fords EcoBoost engine and weighing in at just 725kg, the featherweight will crack 100kph in just 3.7 seconds.

Orders are now being taken for the 245km/h track-car with prices starting at the equivalent of A$90,000 in the UK and North America. There’s no Australian launch on the cards though.

New milestone for Toyota’s Prius THE world’s best-selling hybrid vehicle, the Toyota Prius, has set another record with its three millionth sale worldwide.

North America and Japan accounted for a majority of the sales. The rest of the world made up less than a third of the figure, including 18,300 deliveries in Australia.

Since its introduction in 1997, Toyota has added the Prius C city car and the larger Prius V seven-seater to the range, and will continue developing hybrid technology in future models.

Ford tests braking alert system FORD has tested a new safety system aimed at reducing rear-end collisions caused by distracted drivers.

When a car begins braking it transmits a radio signal illuminating a dash mounted warning lamp in following vehicles, and works even when the decelerating vehicle is obscured by bad weather or obstacles.

Ford says that the technology helps drivers to brake earlier and potentially mitigates or avoids collisions all together.
